Setting Up Your MacBook (CEDA)

This article shows students how to set up the MacBook they received from CEDA.

Getting Started with Your Mac

1. Note the username and password on the sticker on your Mac. Log in to the device using those credentials.

  1. Look for the login information on your device. There should be a sticker on the Mac, near the trackpad.
  2. Enter the device username.
  3. Enter the device password and click the arrow or hit the return key.

1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the desktop. Then, select System Settings.

2. Select Users & Groups from the sidebar. Then, click Add User.

  1. Select Users & Groups from the menu on the left.
  2. Click Add User.

3. Enter the administrator name and password for the Mac. Then, click Unlock.

The administrator name and password is typically what you used to sign in to the computer for the first time. Your device should have a sticker with the username and password on it.

  2. Enter the administrator password.
  3. Click Unlock.

  1. Select a user type from the menu. Standard is recommended. You can click the question mark in the bottom left of the dialog to learn more about the different user types.
  2. Enter your full name.
  3. An account name is automatically generated based on your name. You can also make changes at this point. You will not be able to change the account name after the account is created.
  4. Enter a password.
  5. Re-enter the password.
  6. (OPTIONAL) You can enter a password hint.
  7. Click Create User.

1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the desktop. Then, select System Settings.

2. Select Users & Groups from the sidebar. Then, click the i next to the account you want to modify.

  2. Click the i icon next to the account you want to change the password for.

3. Click Change.

5. Click OK.

Available Apps

MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Teams logos

Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams) is already set up on your MacBook.

To download Zoom, please follow the sign-up instructions and download the app from the CSUF Zoom webpage.

Please refer to the CSUF Dropbox website for instructions on getting started with Dropbox.

You can sign in to the App Store using your personal Apple ID to install additional apps.

Career Coach empowers you to discover your career path, grow real-world skills, and build your network. You’ll get guidance that is personalized to your education, skills, and interests.

Career Coach icon in Teams

To access Career Coach, open the Microsoft Teams app and sign in with your student email address and password if prompted. You’ll see the Career Coach icon at the left of the screen.
