Students - Set Up and Run GlobalProtect VPN
This article covers how CSUF students can install and run GlobalProtect VPN which is required to access some specific campus resources.
Students should be informed by their instructor or department/college if they need to use VPN to access a resource.
You will need to authenticate with Duo 2FA using a push notification to the Duo Mobile app.
If you do not have the app installed on your device, view instructions on how to set up the Duo Mobile app.

Click an option below to view instructions.
1. Click on the appropriate download link below.
2. Open the downloaded installer file.
3. Click Next (or Continue on a Mac) on each screen of the installation wizard to select the default installation options.
You will have to click Next/Continue several times.
4. When the installation is done, click Close.
Mac Users: you may want to keep the GlobalProtect installer rather than moving it to the trash as you will need this installer if you ever want to uninstall GlobalProtect.

1. Open GlobalProtect if it is not already open.
You will likely see the GlobalProtect icon in the task bar at the top (Mac) or bottom (PC) of your screen.
Don't see it there? You should be able to go to:
- Mac: Go > Applications > GlobalProtect
- PC: Start > Palo Alto Networks > GlobalProtect
2. Enter myvpn.fullerton.edu as the portal address. Then click Connect.
After you enter the portal address, GlobalProtect should save it and you won't have to enter it again on this computer. You'll just click Connect.
- Enter myvpn.fullerton.edu as the portal address.
- Click Connect.
3. Mac users may see a required pop-up asking for access to your keychain. Enter the login password you use for your Mac and then click Always Allow.
Don't see this pop-up? You may need to click Disconnect on GlobalProtect and then try connecting again.
- Enter the login password for your Mac. This is the password that you use when you log on to your Mac.
- Click Always Allow.
4. Enter your campus username and password. Then click Sign In.
- Enter your campus username and password. This is the same username/password that you use for the campus portal.
- Click Sign In.
5. Go to your device to approve the Duo login request.
If you don't see the push notification in your notifications, open the Duo Mobile app to view the request.
6. Does GlobalProtect say "Still working?" Open the Duo app on your device to check for the Duo login request and approve it.
The Duo login request will time out if you wait too long to approve it. You may have to click Disconnect and try connecting to GlobalProtect again.
7. Once you have authenticated with Duo, you should be connected to GlobalProtect within a few seconds.
When you're ready to stop using Duo, click Disconnect.
8. You can now connect to the remote desktop or resources that you need to access.
Please contact the service owner of the campus resource to ensure that your access has been properly enabled if you experience issues connecting to the resource.
