ChatGPT EDU: Requesting an Account and Logging In
This article covers how CSUF faculty, staff, and students can request a ChatGPT EDU account and log in to ChatGPT EDU. It also covers how users who have an existing ChatGPT account tied to their CSUF email address can transfer their ChatGPT history to their ChatGPT EDU account or choose to delete their history.
Step 1: Request an Account
1. Go to the CSUF ChatGPT EDU website and click Opt-In to ChatGPT EDU.
Go to the CSUF ChatGPT EDU website.
2. Enter your campus username and password. Then click Login.

3. You will be prompted to authenticate with Duo.

Remember you can use Other options to choose another way to authenticate with Duo.
7. You will receive an email confirmation from the Help Desk that your request was submitted.
You will receive a second email notification from OpenAI when your ChatGPT EDU account has been provisioned (created).
Usually ChatGPT EDU accounts are created (provisioned) within about 30-60 minutes of a request being submitted.

Step 2: Wait for your account to be provisioned
Step 3: Log in to ChatGPT EDU
1. Click on the Join workspace button in the ChatGPT EDU provisioning email or visit the ChatGPT website.
Visit the ChatGPT website to log in to ChatGPT.
2. Click Log in.
If you clicked on the Join workspace button in the provisioning email, you may see a pop-up indicating you were invited to the Fullerton workspace.
3. Enter your campus email address and then click Continue.
Do not use any of the other login options listed below.

- Enter your campus email address (e.g., [email protected] or [email protected]).
- Then click Continue.
If you already have a ChatGPT account tied to your CSUF email address, you will be prompted to decide what to do with the data/history on your existing account:
- Transfer history/data to your ChatGPT EDU account
- Delete your history/data
1. Click on the Join workspace button in the ChatGPT EDU provisioning email or visit the ChatGPT website.
Visit the ChatGPT website to log in to ChatGPT.
2. Click Log in.

3. Enter your campus email address and then click Continue.

- Enter your campus email address (e.g., [email protected] or [email protected]).
- Then click Continue.
4. Select Fullerton SSO when prompted to choose how you want to log in.

5. Enter your campus email address and then click Next.

- Enter your campus email address (e.g., [email protected] or [email protected]).
- Then click Next.
6. Enter your campus password. Then click Sign In.
Your campus email address should automatically populate, but if not, you can type it in.

- Enter your campus password.
- Then click Sign In.
7. You may be prompted to authenticate with Duo.

Remember you can use Other options to choose another way to authenticate with Duo.
9. Review your options for your existing workspace and make a selection.

1. Select Transfer existing chat history and GPTs and then click Continue.

2. Click Confirm transfer.

5. It may take time for your chat history and GPTs to be transferred to your ChatGPT EDU account, depending on how much data you have in your workspace.

1. Select Export and delete existing chat history and then click Continue.

2. Click Export and delete workspace.

5. Check your email for the notification from OpenAI about your data export being ready. Click Download data export.
Note that if there is a lot of data in your workspace, it may take time for this data export to be generated.

7. Your data history should automatically download as a .zip file to your Downloads folder, depending on your browser settings.
If the .zip file doesn't automatically download after logging in to ChatGPT EDU, go back to your email and click on the Download data export button again.
