Accessing Splashtop Business

This article covers how students can install and run the Splashtop Business app. Splashtop is a software that allows you to connect remotely to an iMac computer with Mac-specific software.

What do you want to do?

Download and Install Splashtop Business

1. Go to the CSUF Splashtop page and click Get Splashtop Business App.

If you are on one of the college pages for CSUF Virtual Labs, you can click on the Splashtop link to get to the CSUF Splashtop page.

Go to the CSUF Splashtop page.

Click on Get Splashtop Business App.

You can choose options other than Windows or MacOS, but detailed instructions for installing the app are not available for those options. However, the instructions below may assist in you with installing the app on your device.

Choose the type of device you are installing on.

Windows PC
1. Open the installer file that you downloaded.

2. The installer will automatically run the setup wizard. Click OK when the setup is complete.

Mac
1. Open the installer file that you downloaded.

2. Double click on the Splashtop Business package.

3. Click Continue on the installer.

4. Click Install.

5. Click Close when the installer finishes.

6. You may want to choose to Keep the installer file as you will need it if you want to uninstall Splashtop Business.

Run Splashtop Business and connect to a virtual Mac

1. Open the Splashtop Business app on your computer/device.

PC: Start > Splashtop Remote > Splashtop Business

Mac: Go > Applications > Splashtop Business

2. Click Single Sign-On login.

3. Enter your campus email address and click Log In.

You may want to check the Stay logged in option for a faster login the next time you use the app.

  1. Enter your full campus email address (e.g. [email protected]).
  2. Click Log In.

4. Enter your campus email address again and click Next.

5. Enter your campus password and click Sign in.

Your campus email address should automatically be populated, but if not, you can type it in.

6. You'll be prompted to authenticate with Duo.

Remember you can use Other options to choose another way to authenticate with Duo.

7. You will see a success message in your browser.

8. All available virtual computer connections will appear. Double click on a virtual computer to connect to it.

9. A new window will open with a login screen. Enter your campus username and password to log in.

It may take a few minutes for the virtual computer to connect.

10. You are now connected and can use the virtual computer.

11. When you are ready to disconnect, go to the Apple menu and select Log Out.

Be sure to save your work to an external source (e.g., Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive) before disconnecting! View instructions on saving files and folders to a cloud app.

  1. Click on the Apple menu.
  2. Select Log Out.

12. Click Log Out again.

It may take a moment for the virtual Mac to log you out.

13. Once you are logged out, click the disconnect icon at the top of the screen. You can now exit Splashtop Business.
