Setting Up Your Windows Laptop
This article shows employees how to set up their campus rollout Windows laptop for the first time.
The following screenshots were taken on a Dell Latitude 7450 on Windows 11.
1. Select your preferred setup language. Then, click the button at the bottom right of the screen to confirm.
The button to proceed to the next page may be labeled something like "Continue in English" or "Yes" depending on your selection.
- The language selection defaults to American English. If you wish to continue the setup in another language, click that language to select it.
- Click the Continue/Yes button.
3. Select your preferred keyboard layout/input method. Then, click Yes.
- Select the keyboard layout or input method that you'd like to use.
- Click Yes.
4. If you want to add a second keyboard layout, you can click Add layout. Or, you can click Skip to proceed without adding an additional keyboard layout.
- Click Add layout if you want to add an additional keyboard layout or input method.
OR - Click Skip if you do not wish to add an additional keyboard layout or input method.
5. Select a network to connect to.
Select eduroam from the list of networks. Then, click Connect.
Remember to check Connect automatically so you don’t have to manually connect to this network in the future.
- Select eduroam.
- Click Connect.
Enter your campus email address and password and click OK.
- Enter your full campus email address (e.g. [email protected]) and password.
- Click OK.
Select any available (and secure) wireless network.
If you're connecting to a network that you'll use frequently, such as your home internet, remember to check Connect automatically so you don’t have to manually connect to this network in the future.
- Select the network you want to connect to.
- Click Connect.
6. Once you’re connected, click Next. Your computer will run some checks, which may take several minutes.
7. After the checks are completed, you'll be prompted to sign in with your campus information. Enter your campus email address and click Next.
- Enter your campus email address (e.g., [email protected].)
- Click Next.
10. You will be prompted to verify with Duo.
New to Duo?
Remember you can use Other options to choose another way to authenticate with Duo.
11. Your device will take a few minutes to set up. A restart may be needed to complete the setup process.
