What To Do If You Forgot Your Password
This article covers how students and alumni can reset their campus password if it has been forgotten.
Use Forgot Password Options
1. From the Portal login page, click on Need help logging in?
3. Click on I forgot my password
4. Enter your CSUF username
Enter your CSUF Username and click on the I'm not a robot checkbox. Click on Continue
5. Select one of the methods to reset your password
There are three methods available to reset your password.
If you don't know the answers to your security questions, please try one of the other verification methods before contacting the CSUF IT Helpdesk.
If you have set up security questions, you can reset your password by answering the questions you selected.
You will then be prompted to enter your new password and confirm the new password.
You will see a conformation message when your password has been changed successfully. Please wait five minutes before logging in with your new password.
This option will send an email to the off-campus email that is currently on file on the system. Click on Send Email to receive a password reset link. You will see a confirmation message indicating the email is sent.
If you no longer have access to your off-campus email or if it says Email Address Not Found, please try one of the other verification methods before contacting the CSUF IT Helpdesk.
You will get an email from the IT Helpdesk. You may need to check your Junk/Spam folder if you have not received it. Click on the Reset your Password here link.
Ensure your pop-blockers are disabled.
You will then be prompted to confirm your identity by entering your Date of Birth. Click Continue to proceed to the next step.
You will then be prompted to enter your new password and confirm the new password.
You will see a conformation message when your password has been changed successfully. Please wait five minutes before logging in with your new password.
This option will allow you to reset your password after verifying personal information that is on file on our system.
If your information does not match or you are an alumni, please try one of the other verification methods before contacting the CSUF IT Helpdesk.
Enter your Last Name, Date of Birth, Zip Code (leave blank for international students) and last 4 digits of your SSN or entire CSUF Registration PIN. Click on Submit.
You will then be prompted to enter your new password and confirm the new password.
You will see a conformation message when your password has been changed successfully. Please wait five minutes before logging in with your new password.
Unable to use any of the three methods?
You can reset a password via Zoom (for phone support) or in-person (for walk-in support).
You will be required to verify ID:
- Driver's License
- State ID
- Passport
