Updating Your Password on Your Campus Mac Laptop

This article covers how to update your campus login password on your campus-issued Mac laptop.

1. Change Your Password

There are several different ways you can change your password. IT recommends using our Self-Service Password Change App.

2. Come to Campus

In order to sync your new campus login password with your laptop, you will need to come to campus and use a wired connection to update your Mac login password to match your new campus password. You will also need to update your eduroam password

3. Plug your laptop into a wired connection (an active data jack on campus).

3.1. Click on the password key icon in the menu bar and then select Reconnect.

  2. Then select Reconnect.

3.2. Click OK when the error message appears.

3.3. Enter the new campus password you created in step 1. Then click Sign In.

3.4. Enter your new campus password created in step 1 (Active Directory/Campus password). Then enter your current Mac login password. Then click Sync Password.

  2. Then enter your current Mac login password. (This may be your previous Active Directory/Campus password.)
  3. Then click Sync Password.

3.5. Click OK when you get a confirmation that your Mac login password has been synced to your campus/Active Directory password.

You can now use your new campus password to log on to your Mac.

4. Re-connect to the eduroam wireless network with your new password.

Mac laptops will generally not prompt you to enter your new password for eduroam; it will simply stop being able to connect to the network a few hours after you change your password.

Often, you can simply forget the eduroam network under Wi-Fi settings. Then select eduroam in the list of available wireless networks, and use your CSUF email address and password to connect to it.

The recommended action is to go to the CSUF Wireless website and then go through the eduroam wireless setup wizard. This will ensure that your Mac laptop stays connected to the eduroam network across campus without prompting you to re-enter your password.
