Setting Up Duo Mobile App on Your Mobile Device

This article covers how faculty and staff can set up the Duo app on their mobile device to receive push notifications to authenticate with Duo two-factor authentication. It also includes the extra steps you need to take if you have already set up Duo Mobile on another device or you have multiple campus accounts associated with Duo (e.g., you have both a faculty/staff account and a student account or you manage administrative accounts such as [email protected]).

These instructions show setting up an Apple iPhone, but the instructions are similar for other devices.

1. Install the Duo Mobile app on your mobile phone from either the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

2. Open your web browser to the CSUF Duo Devices Management website.

You will need to take a picture of a QR code with your mobile device as part of this process, so you can't use your mobile device to access the CSUF Duo Setup app.

3. Enter your campus username and password. Place a checkmark next to I'm not a robot. Then click Login.

If you want to set up Duo Mobile for an administrative account (e.g., [email protected]), you should enter the username and password for the administrative account.

You may also be prompted to complete a captcha verification after clicking on I'm not a robot.

The Confirm Ownership message appears when your phone number is already associated with an account in Duo. For example, if you are both staff and a student, you can link both your faculty/staff Duo account and your student Duo account with the same phone number. Or if you manage an administrative account (e.g., [email protected]), you can link both your individual Duo account (e.g., [email protected]) and the administrative account to the same phone number.

If you are not aware of your phone number being associated with another Duo account, immediately contact the IT Help Desk at [email protected] or 657-278-7777.
