Create a survey that requires campus portal login (Shibboleth SSO) for respondents
This article covers how to create a Qualtrics survey that requires respondents to sign in to the CSUF campus portal (Shibboleth SSO) in order to access and respond to the survey.
Note that this integration does not work with a Preview survey; it will only work with a published survey.
Choose what you want to do:
1. Log in to the campus portal and access Qualtrics.
2. Open your Qualtrics survey. Click on the Survey flow icon in the Survey section.

3. Click Add a New Element Here.
5. Click on Authentication Type and choose SSO.
- Click on the Authentication Type drop-down menu.
- Select SSO.
6. Uncheck Associate Respondent with Panel. Place a checkmark next to Capture respondent identifying info and then click Add Embedded Data.

10. If there are any questions or other blocks above the authentication block, click Move and then drag the authentication block to the very top.
Having the authentication block at the top of your survey flow means that all respondents will have to sign in to view the survey questions.
Note you may need to click on the image below to view the animation.
11. Then move all of your survey question blocks so they are nested under the authentication block.
Qualtrics Support's guide on Authenticators recommends that all blocks/content that you want to authenticate are nested beneath the authentication block for the best results.
Note you may need to click on the image below to view the animation.
You must publish your survey before you can follow these steps.
1. Open your Qualtrics survey and click on Data & Analysis.
2. Under the Data tab, click on Column Chooser on the right.
