Leximancer: Download & Installation for Windows

This article covers how to download, install, and activate Leximancer

Step 1: Get the Activation Code

1. Open your browser to the Leximancer Software Page and click on "Get A Personal LexiDesktop License"

b. Click on "Get A Personal LexiDesktop License"

2. Login using your CSUF Portal Username & Password

3. You'll be prompted to authenticate with Duo.

Remember you can use Other options to choose another way to authenticate with Duo.

4. Read and accept the End-User License Agreement (EULA)

Alert: Once you have read the EULA, make sure to tick on the check box and click on "Download Leximancer software license key"

Note: An email will also be sent to your CSUF email with a link to download the license key. 

5. The license key file will be downloaded to your Downloads folder

Tip: For easy access, it is recommended that you save the license key file to your Desktop.

Step 2: Download the Software

1. Go to Leximancer Software Page and click "Download LexiDesktop"

b. Click on "Download LexiDesktop"

2. Select the"PC" folder, then select "LexiDesktop5-5.0.166.msi"

3. Click on "Download"

Note: The download time may vary depending on your internet

Step 3: Install the Software

1. Locate and open the installation file you downloaded.

Note: The installation file should go to the "Downloads" folder by default, unless changed

1a. If you receive a SmartScreen Prompt, follow these steps.

Click on "Run Anyway"

1b. If you are unable to click "Run anyway", you will need to disable Smart Screen

- Open Windows Security by clicking the Shield icon in the taskbar.

- Then, click on "App & browser control"

Make the following selections:
- Turn off "Check apps and files"
- Turn off "Potentially unwanted app blocking"

Note: You can now run the installation file and continue to the next step.

2. Click Next

3. Accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next

4. Click Next

6. Once installed click Finish

Step 4: Activate the Software

1. Open Leximancer from the Start Menu.  Locate the folder name null.  Click on LexiDesktop5

2. The application will open on your default web browser, with a message saying "License Required"

3. To activate the application, drag the license key file you downloaded earlier to the location indicated on your browser window.

4. You are now on the main page for the Leximancer software

Leximancer is now Installed & Activated

Where is Leximancer Located?
  1. Select the Start Button (Apps will be in alphabetical order)
  2. Go to the "N" section and you'll find the "null" folder
  3. Open the folder to find "LexiDesktop5"
